Zakat in the Quran

The importance of Zakat is evident in the Qura’n as Allah associated it with prayer many times in to denote its great status:

  • "And observe prayer and pay Zakat and bow down with those who bow” (Al-Baqarah: 43)
  • “And be steadfast in prayer and pay Zakat, and whatever you anticipate for yourselves of good, you will find it good with Allah.” (Al-Baqarah: 110)
  • “Indeed, Your ally is Allah, His Messenger, and the believers, those who establish regular prayers and pay Zakat, and they bow down humbly.” [Surat Al-Maida: 55]
  • “But if they repent and establish regular prayers and pay Zakat, then [they are] your brethren in religion and we detail the verses for those who know.” [At-Tawbah: 11]
  • “Those, who if We establish them in the land, establish regular prayers, pay Zakat, and enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil.” [Al-Hajj: 41]
  • “There are Men who are never distracted by trade or by sale from the remembrance of Allah, establishing prayer, and paying Zakat.” [Al-Nur: 37]
  • “And establish prayer and pay Zakat and obey the Messenger, that ye may obtain mercy” [Al-Nur: 56]
  • “Those who establish prayer and pay Zakat and are certain of the Hereafter.” [Al-Naml:3]
  • “And they were only ordered to worship Allah alone, staying away from disbelief, and establish prayer and pay Zakat and this is the Right Religion” [Al-Bayinah: 5]
